El Sentido Trágico de la Vida

Hernán and Chino are panhandlers in different zones of the downtown district as close as possible to Rodeo Drive without being roustable by the Beverly Hills PD.

Chino panhandles just as long as Hernán but only collects two to three dollars a day.

Hernán brings home a suitcase full of $10 bills daily, drives an S500, lives in a magnificent house in Bel-Air free and clear and has unlimited money to spend.

Chino says to Hernán, "I work just as long and hard as you do but you bring home a suitcase full of $10 bills every day. ¡Con eso me limpio el palo y dos bolas!"

Hernán leans back in his six-thousand dollar Eames chair and says, "But your sign, pendejo--what does it say?"

"The usual: 'I have no work, a wife and 6 kids to support.'"

Hernán says, " And you wonder why you score $2-3 dollars a day?"

"Sí," Carlos replies glumly. "So what the hell does your sign say?"

"I only need another $10 to move back to México. "
